PLACES
OF INTEREST

"La
Bufadora" at
Punta Banda is a MUST
VISIT!
This is a "Blow Hole" ( a sea
geyser) spouting compressed sea water more then 60 feet in the air. This
is one of the biggest blowholes in North America.
What's nice about this attraction its only
a short drive from the house. Drive up a curvy road as it climbs to the
summit of the rocky Punta Banda Peninsula and drops to the edge of a
small rocky cove where there are three small restaurants and a shop
offering diving supplies, a bazaar and food stands. The road ends at a
parking lot, from that point steps lead to the main attraction,
"The Blowhole". Make this a days side trip, have lunch or an
early dinner at the "BUF", bargain shop at the many outdoor
shops, and visit the"Blow Hole"during high tide. YESTERDAY
THURSDAY FEB. 9TH, 2006 15 YEARS AFTER WE BUILT THE HOUSE MY PHOTO BUDDY
AND I DISCOVERED THAT AN EARLY MORNING ARRIVAL, 700 A.M. IS
AWESOME FOR VIEWING THE "BLOW HOLE"--NO PEOPLE, THE SUN IS
AWESOME, THE TIDE IS UP AND THE WAVES ARE CRASHING. BRING YOUR CAMERAS!!
PARK IN THE PARKING LOT TAKE PHOTOS OF THOSE AMAZING WAVES BEFORE
WALKING UP TO THE BLOW HOLE.
FOR
LARGE PHOTO.
Special
events If
your interested in special events such as the Baja 1000 off- road race,
sailing regatta, Mexican Mardi Gras and seafood festival, call the
Ensenada tourist office at 800-310-9687 for a complete calendar and
brochure about Ensenada.
There
are jet skis, water-skiing, 3 wheel
motorcycles, and a banana boat ride near
by, not to mention the four lighted tennis
courts available at the club!
The
fifty mile fun bike ride from Rosarito to Ensenada.
This happens twice a year, in Sept. and in
April. Its one of the most enjoyable events in Baja. Thousands of people
from all over the country join in the ride and participate in the
incredible festivities that take place at the finish line. Check with
the local bike shop in your area for sign up details. I have
participated in this event and I definitely recommend it!
SPORTS,
fishing, golf, tennis, scuba diving, boating, horseback riding,
bicycling, sports rental equipment etc,
Check
out the wine country. For a fun filled day with great restaurants along
the way this is a daily event that might be right up your alley. Plan to
spend the entire day. The ride is approximately an hour from the house.
Area:
To the south on the beach are some
hot springs where at low tide, the steam rises from the sand. It is
popular to go and dig a beach hot tub "Agua Caliente." to soak
in.
The
Mercado Negro, or black market is a fish market in the port of Ensenada
that will supply any and all types of seafood in case the fishing trip
was not successful.
